My friend John asked that I host weekword this week
I chose the word
Surreal
~
Some notes from John:
All you have to do for Weekword is to share in any creative outlet you
would like-painting, writing, poetry, lyrics, music, photos, collage,
mixed media, drawing, verse, dialogue, videos, anything really-your
interpretation of that week's word on your blog. Let the host (this week
is me) know you'd like to play in their comments, the host posts
everyone's links on Friday.
Your weekword post should normally be done on the Friday, but this is flexible, the important thing is to participate. Also it is always appreciated by all those participating when they get visitors to their weekword post so please visit and be sure to leave a brief comment even if it is just "Hi!". And if you are a weekworder spread the word, and please also visit you weekword friends.

Surreal
"having the disorienting, hallucinatory quality of a dream; unreal; fantastic"
~
Seems that life's surreal moments hold the best learning opportunities
Those moments that pull us out of the daily routine
That smack us upside the head
That seem to catapult us into an alternate universe where we see, and experience, life differently
Sometimes it's an illness
where suddenly our lives revolve around hospitals, doctors, medical terms, endless visits
Sometimes it's a deadline
where all focus is on that one thing as if your very life depended on its completion
Sometimes it's the end, or beginning, of a relationship
Or coincidences, or chance meetings, or experiences, or, or, or...
I have quite a few surreal moments that happen in my life
each one capable of knocking the breath out of me
but in the end
they're the ones that make me smirk
the ones capable of proving my strength
assuming, of course, that I don't bend too far to break
<smirk>

ReplyDeleteI like how you're suggesting that the surreal is a reflection on the real and, often times, brings us closer to the real. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post Elena, and a great word.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your word this week Elena and will post my own, late response tonight. I am in need of a smack upside the head from something in my life for sure! Do we have someone set to hand it off to for this week?
