Life seems different now
I'm not dead but I'm not quite living
It's so odd...a feeling of looking at life through glass
Look but don't touch
The world has changed
Everything has moved so fast
I've been left behind
And part of me feels a bit sad but mostly I'm thankful
I don't want to be part of the noise
I can't handle loud sounds, talk, commotion
By brain doesn't like it
What I don't like is that I have changed
and I don't know if I like this new me
I don't recognize her
She looks at me in the mirror through confused eyes
Her hair, her clothes, her head all look different
Some senses are stronger than others
Things taste, smell, sound...different
I look back at her and shrug
She and I; I and She
The truth is She and I have to get along now
Because we're alone the majority of the time
So we watch the world we knew from afar
Wondering if anyone understands this strange new land we're in
And we find comfort amongst the other confused souls
those who call themselves the survivors
And She and I take a deep breath knowing how lucky we are
How. Damned. Lucky. We. Are.
Wondering how much longer we have.
We pet the furry companions who stand protectively at our side
in this odd new world we now reside in
and shrug our shoulders
She and I. I and She.

ReplyDeleteI just remember the list of things you used to have on your sidebar, things you wanted to do, a bucket list of sorts. Maybe She and You need to sit down and create a new one. Maybe it will have simple things like find something you both like the taste of, or find beautiful. Maybe, if you work on it together, it will bring you both into a center you can BE from, peacefully. Maybe ?
