A Way Out

I'm intrigued by spider webs
The architectural beauty that appears in the night
Delicate enough to cradle a dew drop
Deadly enough to ensnare the unsuspecting

I've watched the flight of the erratic fly
Who with one wrong turn finds himself stuck to the web
And in a panic begins to thrash about
Only to entangle himself more
 sealing his fate
(ok so I often release them but don't tell my biker buds)

It's inevitable that there comes a time in our journey
that we find ourselves stuck in the web
and in a panic thrash about
trying to claw our way out
wanting to bite off the foot that's caught in the trap
the fear of the moment clouding all reason

Something akin to walking a tightrope
in the dark
without a balance bar or safety net
(dramatic today huh)

Sometimes it's better to lie still
and hold on tight
To let the wave of irrational fear pass over
Until you remember that there is always a way out
That although you can't see
You need to rely on faith
Or yell for help really loud
and be open to seeing the match strike
that will light your way out of the dark
or pluck you off the web

 Remember the Wizard of Oz?
There's always a rational way out of the dark Haunted Forest
just remember
Never NEVER let the flying monkeys get you

Love to all of you who made me laugh yesterday
when I was dangling from the tightrope

  1. Never forget you have a safety net, you just need to call out for it.

  2. Not to mix metaphors, but this reminds me of that saying "When you find yourself in a deep hole, stop digging." Letting go and not making things worse is a good strategy.

  3. Love the t-shirt and safety nets. Hugs Karen
