I watched it grow big and tall. Worried when the rains pelted the soft petals. Surprised to find the flowers intact and looking stronger after each storm. How could it be that they weren't damaged?

I can relate to the hibiscus. I'm sure I entered this life ready to flourish until something happened that caused my leaves to fall and my flowers to fade. It doesn't matter what caused it since I am now strengthened and filling with lush leaves and a few blooms. But it seems that in opening up to the full beauty you are capable of, you also run the risk of exposure.I made the mistake of reading something I thought I was ready for. Something on animal abuse. And I felt like I was sucker-punched. I haven't cried so much in a long time. Yeah, yeah I'm a baby. But I cannot understand that type of cruelty. And I thought it used to affect me. But never like this. I feel sick. Truly. Maybe I'm coming down with something. My chest hurts. But really....why? And perhaps there isn't an answer. Just pure evil. And it makes me feel helpless. I want to help. But how? Become a billionaire and save the animals? Doubt it.
So I called my sister who said to think of the few animals we save from the shelters. I said yes, but what about the others that are still in the hands of the evil? And I started the sniveling all over again. I feel dirty. (Ha! That sounds hilarious.) But I feel like my soul has been touched by something hideous and I can't get it out.
Maybe this is what the healers meant when they said
I need to learn how to protect myself.
I need to learn how to protect myself.
Too late.

Perhaps I should go ask the hibiscus how it protects itself from the pelting rains....Perhaps I need to close in slumber
and find healing there. And tomorrow my petals will open wide to greet the new day.
Its hard to be a healer when you care about what happens to others but I don't know of any other way to do it. How can you be a caring healing if you distance yourself?
ReplyDeleteProtect yourself by visualising a white light around you.
Unfortunately we can't help everyone or everything... but helping a few is better than helping none.
I know how you feel. I get upset watching or reading about the children who are abused and end up bawling my eyes out. I want to take them all in and give them the love they deserve.
It is very true Elena what both you and Wickedly Divine Creations say. When we are sensitive to spiritual matters and the needs of others, we´d like to save the world but in reality we can only do our best and the rest will take care of itself. I am a great Superman fan ("it must be a man thing", my partner said), in one of the episodes, I think he is replying to a question. "Even with my great powers I cannot be everywhere, so I do what I can do" words to that effect. Life is transient, forever changing, there has been cruelty since the beginning of time, this desn´t mean we have to like it or accept it, yet it is always there somewhere and that is what we have to accept, knowing this we still "Fight the good fight" hopefully pushing the darkness a little further away.
ReplyDeleteWe have to pick our battles, focus on what is right to keep us strong, and sometimes, shut out things that will drain us.
ReplyDeleteI am not saying be oblivious to what is around you, not at all.
I have learned there are certain things I can control, contribute to and make better, and that is what I put out into the world.
There are a million things I cannot.
It is important to feel, but to keep the feelings in proper perspective to your ability to do.
And do what you do well---do it a lot. You're putting good out into a world that could be swallowed by the bad quickly.

Oh, beautiful One, I know this stuff. I have spent an entire day crying for the polar bears and how they have no more habitat. I have ached for the sea turtles swimming in oil. I have felt devastated by the evil it takes to hurt a child. I am also learning that those feelings are valid and a big part of the beautiful heart that I have. I need to learn to protect it. If that keeping myself out of the loop permanently and only focusing close to me, that is what it will be. I am also learning that LOVE is the answer to every question. I can't fix it all but I can try and love it all...hard stuff though...
ReplyDeleteI also read this recently and it gave me much food for thought...:http://www.hsperson.com/. We sensitive people play an important role in this world, I know we do.
Big hugs and love for your wounded places.
I'm sorry to say that I'm glad you made this transition. It brings full cycle worldly realities. A pebble in the pond of good Elena...
ReplyDeleteTo me it just seems your heart is really opening wide, Elena. And you're going to feel everything positive and negative, tenfold. At least that's what is happening to me. Send healing positive thoughts out into the world, and in this case focus on the animals being healthy. To stay focused on the negative begets more negative. Remember you are a blooming healthy hibiscus now with a white light surrounding you, protecting you. ...Keep unfolding!
ReplyDeleteI work with many children and adults who have lived through terrible experiences. I feel that each time I feel my heart aching, my job is to make my body more resilient to be able to contain that ache. I don't want to shut out the ache, but be with it in a loving and compassionate way with my clients and my own suffering. Love Karen
ReplyDeleteI Hope you got a chance to listen to the answer to your most excellent question the other day, it provided for a great show and helped many going through similar feelings, love and blessings, Sharon
