They meant the world to each other
A deep connection from the start
She felt loved and safe with him
He was her whole world
He vowed to protect her forever
To be there when she needed him
The future was theirs…
A deep connection from the start
She felt loved and safe with him
He was her whole world
He vowed to protect her forever
To be there when she needed him
The future was theirs…
It wasn’t supposed to end the way it did
One deadly gunshot shattered their lives
She didn’t understand what happened
Why was he laying in that box?
Why wouldn’t he hold her?
The world ended then
Laughter replaced by tears
Why did he leave her?
She couldn’t count on love and safety
He was sixteen
She was four
Now that she has opened her heart she feels him
He was there all along
He never left her
He kept his promise
One deadly gunshot shattered their lives
She didn’t understand what happened
Why was he laying in that box?
Why wouldn’t he hold her?
The world ended then
Laughter replaced by tears
Why did he leave her?
She couldn’t count on love and safety
He was sixteen
She was four
Now that she has opened her heart she feels him
He was there all along
He never left her
He kept his promise
Dedicated to my brother, Carlos
I miss you

That is a touching memorial to your brother. He didn't leave you, God wanted him.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how words and images can tap into our emotions and give them release. The photo is so loving and the words a perfect accompaniment.
ReplyDeleteThe last stanza is really powerful especially:
"Now that she has opened her heart she feels him"
Sometimes the emotions over the years get stronger when we embrace them. All part of healing.
