I went Home today.
I needed to be around my Mama - she would make everything ok.
And she did.
She healed the scratches that magically appeared on my belly overnight.
(Blame one very itchy hormone patch and scratching in my sleep)
She healed the fear which has been so hard to voice.
She laughed when I scrunched my nose at my new wireless bra.
(But which is magically also painless)
And my sister and son joined us.
We decorated the wreaths for my dad and brother's graves.
I found my old yearbook, pictures, books.
And we walked down memory lane.
Found the telegram the Marines sent when my brother was hospitalized.
Found a letter from my grandma who I never met - my namesake
And my heart was full and thankful for family.
And not only those that are still visible to me.
But thankful to those I feel around me.
I felt someone stroke my head - not scary.
Jazz sees someone near the front of the house.
And she'll sit on my chest to protect me.
(That's 70 pounds of canine)
She doesn't understand.
We think it's Daddy Ed, my father-in-law.
Hubby says he's here to assure us everything will be ok.
I'm not scared.
~
I'm just embarrassed he'll see me in my new yucky wireless bra.

A beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I love your photo. Is that your mother's hand? I loved my mother's hands. I can still picture them. I wish I could hear her voice.
