Since getting the good news I've been rather odd. I'm still. I feel like I'm patiently riding a glass walled elevator. Watching the world through the window, listening to a soothing tune as I make my slow ascent. The doors are behind me and I don't know where I'm getting off...but I don't care. I'm here. Now.
I wonder how long this feeling will last? Perhaps I was touched by divinity with all those prayers that were coming in. I like it. I'm at peace. I never felt this - but I like it. I'm sure that elevator door will open and perhaps I'll fall into chaotic thoughts again. But, now I know I am capable of achieving this peace. The elevator is always there.
And during my current ride I've been seeing little things that seem to say, "Look, we can do anything!" I've been watching the plants. It's Fall. It's almost Winter. Reason says they should be dead. But some refuse and are popping out a few more blooms. I tell them to go to sleep; the cold is coming and will catch them unawares. They say, you worry too much. Just live; every moment. We may not be here tomorrow but we're here now and look how beautiful we are. (Hmmm, I do sound like I lost a few brain cells don't I).
And then there are those that seem to have a drive, a passion, to live no matter what. I saw this at my mom's house where little plants have poked through. I'm sure they were told 'you can't', 'don't do it'. But they did. They followed that drive; that yearning. I'm sure they didn't plan it out - they just followed their little hearts. (Ok, so let's imagine they have little hearts) In the spring, my brother tore out a large trumpet vine that was climbing up the side of the house. He built a trellis for it and re-routed it to another part of the yard where it took nicely. This fall, a tiny little seedling lifted its head. Each passing day it got bigger. No miracle since that's what plants do. But this little guy is growing in the concrete slab on the first floor stair landing in the house. It's dark, it's cold. But there he is. Sure my brother doesn't think this is cool. I do. Such a drive in that little plant's heart. So if they could do it...why shouldn't I?

Lovely plants tell lovely tales!
ReplyDeleteYou seem so at peace Elena. And your words seem more thoughtful and insightful. Yes, there are lessons all around us and nature is a wonderful way to learn from them. No matter what our external circumstances present us, we keep growing. Sounds like that's where you are at. Loving your heartfelt words, such truth I take into myself as well.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you on your journey!
