Laura shared her magic at class again. Oooh I had a ball! We learned to paint artist tissue, sandwich string between two sheets of tissue, tissue with plastic wrap, deli sheets, worked with coffee filters and coffee grain, and foil. I used a template under the foil as an experiment but I don't know if it'll keep its pattern once I use the flat iron next week. Hope so...if not, lesson learned. I didn't make as many papers in class because I had to allow for drying time before I scoot to pick up my son. I'm having such a good time with this that I'm already hoarding "stuff" and even emailed my family and old coworkers asking for any old magazines. It went so far that I took the envelope April sent my bday card in and already painted it. Apparently even the mail can't escape. I'm already putting together a mental list of what I want for Christmas.
During class I overheard someone mention that she has taken many classes and knows many techniques. Although she has many parts and pieces she felt she needed to actually buckle down and create something with them. I've taken two classes, drawing and now Laura's. I can make things while I'm there but struggle to do so when I'm not in class. It made me wonder if I'll end up taking all kinds of classes and end up with lots of pretty things that don't ever become anything. Hopefully not. Although I'm having fun making these papers I can't figure out how the heck I'll put them together to make something. Guess that's where Laura comes in next week....

Love your colors! Beautiful papers! Aren't they fun?!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful papers!
ReplyDeleteThese papers are so cool! I had to laugh when you talked about your Christmas list and emailing you family about old magazines. When I first started collaging, I did the same thing. Now, I find myself searching the ground for usable collage material when I take my granddaughter out for walks. It gets into your blood. You are so talented, I am sure you will create wonderful things in this new exploration of creativity.
