I spy with my little eye....

I was 25 when an eye specialist said I had glaucoma
He proceeded to scare the hell out of me
Telling me what to expect
Then sent me home on a sunny day with dilated eyeballs

I cried
Imagining the horrors
Of what I would never see again

Turns out the doc was wrong (not the first one to be)
My eyes are shaped differently than others'
And they're fine
All they had to do was get to know me
To know that I'm beyond the norm many MANY ways
So why should my eyes be any different (tee hee)

The funny thing is
silly me was mourning that I would never again see what I saw
And yet
I no longer see things the way I did back then
It's as if suddenly someone removed the cloudy lens from my eyes
And I've discovered a fascinating world

I just love these textures and patterns
Do you know what they are?

And nope I didn't forget
the winner of the 'feeling the love' giveaway of 1/26
is

  2. Glaucoma is often "misdiagnosed" by smarmy eye doctors for profit. The treatment doesn't hurt a healthy eye but puts major $$$ in the doctor's pocket. My mother had "glaucoma" for years until she went to another specialist who said her eyes were fine. By that time the smarmy doctor was long gone. Probably retired on his ill-gotten gains. But he preyed on elderly people because that's who usually develop glaucoma. I'm surprised to hear of a doctor trying to pull that on a 25 year old. Glaucoma is quite rare, I believe, among young people.

Anyway, my guess is -- oil in a pan?
