- This Art+O+Mat machine is located in the lobby of the Chicago Cultural Center
- They are made out of retired cigarette machines
- Apparently there are 82 machines scattered around the country
- Each slot is filled with an original work of art packaged in a little white box
- Here's a link to the Art+O+Mat site which shows where they're located and which artists have works of art in the machines
- And, and, and....you can apply to include your artwork within one of these

Here is the piece that Lisa bought me after pulling the cool knob a little white box falls out and you open your little surprise. Yep, doesn't take much to thrill me, huh!

I had considered doing these, but the # required and the SPECIFIC PACKAGING rules were what made me change my mind. You have to do 50, certain size, certain weight to fall right, then you can BUY the packages from them....okay, I'm seeing my miniscule profit margin shrinking!
ReplyDeleteMaybe, to sum it up, I am lazy and have a short attention span....yes??? :D
but those are the coolest adaptations of the old machines!
XXOO!!

I think when you come to visit....I'll have a little white box with a little piece of my artwork in it and since I don't have a machine, can I just toss it at you ?.......LOL
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend !
these machines are artwork in themselves.....they're awesome and bring back so many memories of being in restaurants and hearing someone pull that knob out and the box of cigs drop to the bottom! of course, i'm glad that the cigs have now been replaced with artwork....fabulous idea!!! :))
ReplyDeleteWow, some machine! I would love to get that little piece of artwork too!
