Mystic Monday - Think yourself Healthy

Lately I seem to have an overwhelming urge to learn about many different things. I went to the library for a couple hours the other day and must have had no less than 30 books scattered on the table in front of me. All kinds of subjects; anything and everything. And I flipped and scanned and got up for more. I'm sure the person who had to put them all back was cursing me out.

But the one thing that seems to be on my mind quite a bit is the belief that mental patterns contribute to illnesses. When I first read about this I thought yeah yeah bunch of New Age hoopla. Then I started thinking back to all the illnesses I used to have and cross referenced their occurrence with what was happening at that time in my life. And I've been watching my sister from afar and I am ready to believe that there just might be something to this. She's been so sick for several years-asthma, back & foot problems, and allergies to almost everything natural and man-made. And as I listed the various illnesses and cross referenced them to their start I see a pattern. Starting with my dad's first stroke and moving on down through various things happening in her family. And I don't mean to look at her as my guinea pig but I feel badly when I see her suffering so much and not receiving any relief from the many medical doctors she has visited.

And I will continue to research and gather the information I need to approach her with a new plan of attack to supplement what the medical gurus prescribe. It can't hurt. She may think I'm nuts but that's ok...she loves me anyway. But you can't discount the seeming coincidences between mental thought patterns and the illnesses associated with them. Things like anger, hopelessness, fear, disappointment, etc. seem to have an effect on the body's chemistry. Of course pair this with eating habits and exercise and the effects are magnified.

The funny, sad, thing is I've started jotting down the other illnesses in the family (like cancer) and cross referencing what those people were going through at the time. And the results are really fascinating.

Does this make me morbid?

  3. I agree!! I am fascinated by the mind/body connection!! I have a friend who is constantly sick and has a very unhappy life in many ways. And my mother-in-law, who is a very bitter, angry, negative person is chronically ill. Coincidence???? I don't think so!!!

  4. I really believe that negative energy can bring on illness. I have seen it all to often, even in myself. Many years ago, there were several studies about the effect of positive thinking and chemotherapy. The results of the studies showed a marked increase in cure/remission rates with those people who did positive imaging about the chemo. I don't remember the names of the studies, unfortunately. I think you are really onto something good.

  5. I certainly hope with all you're putting into this, your sister will take it to heart. I lost my sister who suffered many years with RA and have another sister with RA who simply refuses to change her habits and protocol. I keep sharing though, maybe someday it'll pay off.
