Statement Retraction

Not very long ago I made the statement "I wish I were normal..." I wished I were just like everybody else and wasn't so sensitive. I wished I could watch abused animal commercials or animals being eaten in the wild without my chest tying up into knots, I wished I could just go to work everyday without feeling that life was slipping by, I wished I didn't feel that internal nagging that there was more to life...I wished, I wished, I wished....

And why all this wishing? Because I was getting tired of people telling me "what's wrong with you"-this is all there is in life so just accept it. Stop dreaming, toughen up, you're just sickly, too sensitive, too quiet, too morbid, too negative, too, too, too....

I know now that all along my angels and guides tried desperately to give me little signs and I ignored them all or chalked them up to coincidence. I didn't believe in them after all. But I've read that angels are assigned to assist you in your life's journey. They're allowed to help but only if you ask. But there's a running joke in my household. That my angel is sort of a trouble maker. And although he means well, has a tendency not to follow the rules to the letter so being this little troublemaker, he was assigned to me. And this angel led the team that tried to get my attention. Until he got fed up....and 'sucker punched' me. I fell flat on my ass...stunned. And I listened....

Here I am a year later and I'm retracting my statement. I am eternally grateful that I am NOT normal. I was given this amazing gift to appreciate the world. I was just looking at life through the wee holes in a blindfold. Thank goodness my inner compass knew there was more. And through blog-land I have found others like me. Those that appreciate humanity, nature, spirituality and know that there is definitely more to life. And aren't afraid to go after it.

I know there's nothing wrong with me because I'm on the right path now....
Thanks Angel for making me listen

  2. I think "normal' is the great illusion so many of us strive for. There is no such thing. We are all different and I think that's great! How boring would life be if we were all "normal." Celebrate your sensitive nature - you are connected in a way many are not... Love, Silke

  4. What a difference a year can make!! You have come a LONG way!! And yes, "normal" is way over-rated!!! Thank God for all of us who are not "normal"---we are the ones who are awake, alive, listening and truly looking at the infinite wonder and joy the world has to offer!! My son sometimes calls me "crazy old mama" and it's a title I wear proudly!!!!

  6. Oh Elena!
*Normal* is another word for HELL!!! We live an extraordinary life, and with it comes the ups and downs, but we see and appreciate and feel and know. We don't take this time we have for granted, in a zombified sleep walk but LIVE it.
I am sure that I have burned out several guardian angels with my own antics, and if there is a stern warning to those who don't tow the heavenly line...well, they get ME! ;)
I am thankful you are as you are....because you're wise, and talented and fun!!!
    YOU GO GIRL!!!

    XXOO!!

  7. YAY for you, Elena!! Normal is way overrated and I believe it is something society at large conjured up to keep people locked into boundaries and easier to control.

  8. I'm happy you've joined the abnormal club. There are sensitivities that make us strive to change the world and don't ever stop believing that. Education creates change, but I do not mean formal education. Social change... sometimes it takes awful truth depicting photos to make people in denial understand.
