I was somewhat unprepared in collage class Wednesday considering we were ready to start applying papers to canvas and I had yet to decide on a theme. As I struggled pulling papers out and throwing them back in I remembered the little ritual from the mandalas class. So I quietly held papers in one hand and canvas in the other. I took a few breaths and said 'ego begone'. Then I just started laying papers according to what felt right. As I was tacking them down I decided I wanted to recreate Sedona in my piece. It was then I realized there was a frog in the picture. And this time I felt the tap on the head that said "HEY PAY ATTENTION." So I looked it up and found this for frog symbolism.
- Fertile time at hand...initiate new beginnings
- Reminder of common bonds with all life
- Transformation
- Cleansing (as in negativity or becoming healthier)
- Understanding emotions
- Rebirth
- Release one's own voice
This is my Sedona piece in progress...so far it's only the first layer
But do you see the frog towards the top next to the brown?
I could discount this to coincidence with it being Spring and all
but I can't since just about every bullet point has been happening lately
So I'll take it as a sign in the road validating that I'm going the right way
Ahhh...awareness makes the world so interesting...doesn't it?

Ok, yesterday afternoon, spur of the moment I decide to take a drive to Crete. There's a little lunch place and a couple shops there I used to take my mom to and when I was a kid I had a great aunt and uncle who farmed there. Well, the shops were closed on Wed. so I drove down the road I thought my aunt and uncle lived on looking for their house. It was very warm and I had the car windows open and in one spot I heard a TON of frogs!!! I thought it was strange because it seems way too early to hear frogs!! I live by a couple ponds and we usually hear them in the middle of the summer when it's very warm. Hmmmmmm. AND when I was a kid my favorite, beloved stuffed animal was this goofy green frog with a yellow felt crown. He wore out but I still have a "replica". It all makes me think....
ReplyDeleteThis is so fantastic, dear Elena! I can see you growing and evolving in leaps and bounds!
ReplyDeleteRibbit-ribbit!

ReplyDeletedon't throw that pillow at me :)
Fabulous post and your Sedona piece is looking great, Elena! I so agree....awareness is the key!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh - so glad to hear about this again - and hear the whole story! I'm just tickled this happened. And yes, just look at how interesting your piece is so far. Beautiful colors.
ReplyDeleteI really like this piece. The frog is terrific. Aside from their symbolism, frogs are wonderful creatures to behold. They come in such incredible colors and sizes. I can't wait to see this piece finished.
