Growth Perhaps?

It's a balancing act
To retain the magic
Discovered on vacations
Opening a cautious eye
To greet the morning sun
Wondering if I've been granted another day

And fighting the gnawing feeling that
Something...
Isn't...
Quite...
Right...

Like the charged air before a storm

I wonder what it can be
And as I pace from room to room
I see something
That makes me smile

Meet # 19 off my birthday list

No, he's not any 'ole lima bean
He was planted with care
Carefully watered
Carried for daily sunbathings
Brought in for the night
Loved like no other bean before him
And you think this is strange
You should see how I chatter away to my other garden experiments
The watermelon, tomato, egg plant, celery, onion, pepper, lettuce
But the ones I've grown from seed are extra special
Next to my lima bean is the spinach and green bean
I thought they wouldn't grow
But they just started peaking through
Making their cautious entrance
Once they figured out the crazy city lady meant no harm
~
And I suppose I'm like the spinach and green bean
I'm still tucked away
Stuck in the moment before change

The moment of shadows
