Searching for Clues

I'm always wishing I had a clue to my life's purpose
Perhaps in a sealed envelope hidden in a cubbyhole
behind a loose stone that magically opens when a moonbeam
hits a special spot in just the right way
Ok, maybe not that dramatic

My Mama was telling me that when I was younger
I had a strange habit of eating paper
As in, paper bags, book corners, egg cartons
So perhaps my calling is to be:
A librarian, file clerk, bookkeeper, paper saleswoman,
shredder

My sweet friend Robin recommended a book
"it is absolutely screaming your name at me" she wrote
How could I resist such an intro?

Becoming a Life Change Artist
7 Creative Skills to Reinvent Yourself at Any Stage of Life
by Fred Mandell and Kathleen Jordan

So far, it's fab
Turns out I'm not the only one who gets off the roller coaster of life
to find themselves lost as they search for a new ride
reading the book
is like finding a clue
~ ~ ~
Did you ever notice God puts you where you need to be?
My Mama worked in a book factory
I had access to all kinds of paper
and perhaps, just perhaps,
I'm where I need to be right now

  1. a. I don't know if I believe in life purposes. Perhaps they change with time. If there were true purposes, how come so many of us wander lost and wondering? Seems like a waste of a whole lot of amazing people. Or maybe that's our purpose. To wander, ponder, discover.
    b. Perhaps your purpose was paper recycling!!! tee hee! Eventually the scraps would make it back to their natural source. The soil. Fertilizer for more paper trees. Yeah. Bad joke.
    c. I totally have that book on my Amazon wish list!!! Been wanting it for some time now. Glad to know you're enjoying it. You'll have to tell me more!
    d. I'm craving chocolate chip cookies. Random but true. ;)

  2. St Paul wrote "Now we see through a glass darkly but then face to face", Life´s purpose is sometimes like smoke, you see it and then try and grasp it only to see it disappear in your hands. Perhaps the purpose is something one cannot "find" but it is just in knowing it, what is important to you, allowing it to influence your life.

  3. Accepting the odd feeling of life change is the hardest part. We are so ingrained to follow the rules, do the 9-5 gig, don't ask questions, dress like everyone else, spend every waking moment clamoring for more money/prestige/better job.....
Sure, when we step off the train, it does seem odd. It is like the death of a loved one---what do you do now? What to you fill that void with? Did you make the right decision?
Just make sure you are totally OFF the train....not leaving one toe on....easier to stand, you know? ;-)

  4. That's a cool sounding label. Artist part, yep. Life part, yep, still living. Changing part, well...trying at least so okay.
Life Changing Artist it is ! Today, anyway !
    Cheers, LCA friend !

  5. For the last 21 years, I believe that all is perfect and that the Universe aligns us with what needs to happen at the microcosm - our lives - and at the macrocosm to fulfill what needs to happen to the Universe. You are exactly where you are meant to be. Enjoy the ride. (It is just hummin' along like a Harley!) Hugs, Judy

  6. You know that reminds me of a book a friend gave me when I turned 40 called Painting the Walls Red - it got me thinking about art for the first time ever. As to life's purpose - I think much of the time living our life with joy is the purpose. And spreading that joy, which you do!!! Much love, Silke
