After the 'morbid fascination' post I forgot to mention that my Mama came to stay with me for 5 days. 5 DAYS! It was great and no stalky dream spirits either! Whoo hoo! She left here looking great and is back to her old self hanging out with the various senior groups in town.
Besides teaching me to make enchiladas and rice (which even my son liked) she said something which stuck in my head "Dying can happen so quickly; no matter all the precautions and preparations. If it's time. It's time." And I wondered, if someone dies unexpectedly how confused they must be for the split second after. Unsure of what just happened.
So Sunday started out a rather calm day with my trying to clean the studio enough to begin creating again. I even had homework considering I had just agreed to exchange photos of a creation with Nacherluver. I joked with her about tax paranoia; telling her that we had the tax guy prep taxes just so we could transfer them into Turbotax for the first time. Hubby and I sat down figuring an hour tops; hell it was like we had a cheat sheet, right? Then I could return to the studio and start my homework.
Four hours later, we wanted to call the tax man and beg for him to do it for us. Then started the fight with the printer. It's all hilarious now but at the time....
We sat down to dinner and I was feeling a bit off. My chest had been hurting, I took a bite of food and my back started hurting. I was feeling really uncomfortable, like I had swallowed cotton and it was stuck in my chest. I started coughing and felt like I needed air so I went outside. Felt better, came in. The more I coughed the more it hurt. By now the big and little man were panicking. As were the dogs who were following me around. I went back outside and sat on the stairs in the rain. It felt good. So good that for a moment I didn't feel anything other than the coolness of the rain. And I thought. Did I die? Looked around...saw no ghosts. And laughed. Hell if I'm gonna die now! I've got a bucket list that hasn't been touched and the fed owes me money. Not to mention that I refuse to go with my headline reading 'anger-induced Turbo tax death'. I'd rather it be flamboyant like 'rides off Brazilian mountain while doing pop-a-wheelie on motorcycle at age of 90...heard yelling "No Regrets!" on way down'. Yeah, just like that.
Anyway, I didn't die. I figured ghosts can't feel raindrops. Came in. Refused to go to hospital. Lay down with heating pad and woke up at 4:00 this morning. Feel good but slightly congested. I think I've got a bit of an allergy going since my nose is stuffy. Who knows what the rain stirred up. The only problem is, right before hubby left at 4:15 he pointed at me and said 'YOU!, We are talking tonight' in that voice which I know means exercise and eating healthy. Dammit! Stupid TurboTax.
Death and Taxes, you managed to cover two of lifes major certainies with humor. Hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a tax induced stress attack to me! Damn taxes. Glad you survived! ;)
ReplyDeleteOff to salt the ice arena... er.. I mean sidewalk.
Taxes are never fun. Or fast. Bastards.
ReplyDeleteHi Honey, Taxes... just did my taxes with the small business turbo taxs took me 3 hours of steady reading and answering questions but got through it. the fear the govenment puts on us about them coming to get us if we do it wrong is B...sh.t...well I did my best and it said that I'm inbetween for audit as I best watch out too much supplies and lost on sales.....well it wasn't the best year for people to buy art...anyways..(first time in over 12 years that I didn't show a profit) I've been using the small home business turbo tax now for at lest 8 years and do it by myself cause the husband can't make heads or tails of my art buz stuff...Hang in there it's done right? and it was new for both of you this year...easier next year call all the stuff will transfer over by it self and make it soooo much easier..Or give it the people that do the taxes for a living...which ever works right?
